About PNW Systems Solutions

Engineering experience built through two decades of drafting, design, CAD leadership, and utility infrastructure projects.

PNW Systems Solutions is a specialized CAD drafting partner dedicated to the technical accuracy of power systems engineering. We provide utility companies, engineering firms, contractors, and residential clients with professional drafting support that bridges the gap between complex engineering concepts and physical infrastructure.

My Story

My name is Matt, and my career began in the United States Air Force, where I proudly served in Security Forces while stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming. My military experience instilled discipline, accountability, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering dependable results—qualities that continue to guide my work today.

After completing my military service, I pursued an Associate of Science degree in Architectural AutoCAD at Westwood College of Technology in Denver, Colorado. I began my professional career in architectural drafting, supporting custom home builders throughout Colorado and developing a strong foundation in construction documentation and design.

Following the 2008 housing market downturn, I transitioned into the electrical industry, working for an electrical contractor before relocating to the Pacific Northwest in 2010.

Since then, I have spent more than a decade supporting some of the nation's most significant electrical infrastructure projects, progressing from engineering technician and CAD designer to CAD leadership roles across both public utilities and private engineering firms.

My experience includes work with: Centex Homes (Architectural Drafter), Sall Residential Design (Architectural Drafter), Encore Electric (Electrical Drafter), Bonneville Power Administration (Engineering Technician), Burns & McDonnell (Designer), Leidos (CAD Manager / Designer), Brown and Kysar (T&D Designer), and Asplundh Engineering Services (CAD Manager / Designer).

Throughout my career I have supported high-voltage transmission systems, substations, protection and control design, as-built documentation, data center electrical infrastructure, engineering standards, CAD management, and production workflows.

I founded PNW Systems Solutions to provide engineering firms, utilities, contractors, and residential clients with responsive, high-quality drafting and design support backed by real-world industry experience.

The journey from the drafting board to leading CAD departments has provided me with a unique perspective on project lifecycle management. I've seen firsthand how a single inaccurate wiring diagram can lead to significant field delays, and how a well-structured CAD management plan can save hundreds of engineering man-hours. PNW Systems Solutions was born from the desire to bring this level of veteran expertise directly to firms that need it most.

My approach is simple: technical precision is non-negotiable, standards are paramount, and communication is the key to a successful partnership.
